Samaritan Car Care Clinic Brings Affordable Vehicle Maintenance to NKY
FHLB Cincinnati joined Samaritan Car Care Clinic to celebrate the grand opening of its new headquarters in Covington, Ky. The organization looks to fill a void they identified in the community after talking to other nonprofits – access to reliable transportation.
“What those agencies tell us is that access to affordable and reliable transportation is one of the single greatest barriers that their clients face on their path to financial independence,” said Bruce Kintner, founder and director.
With the new facility, the organization is now able to complete repairs in-house instead of having to do the work at partnering shops. They fixed 67 cars in the first quarter of 2023, all from low-income families and most from single moms.
The new facility offers more than basic vehicle maintenance. New mechanics will receive training through a collaboration with Gateway Community & Technical College, with the goal of preparing them to enter the workforce. The Samaritan Car Care Clinic is also working with St. Vincent de Paul of Northern Kentucky to provide vehicles to those in need at affordable rates.
FHLB Cincinnati is proud to support the new facility with a $10,000 donation from the Bank's Corporate Outreach Program. Learn more about Samaritan Car Care Clinic's work on their website.
