Rockdell Villas Offers a Path Forward

For individuals experiencing homelessness, stable housing can be the foundation for a healthier, more independent future.

In Fairborn, Ohio, newly opened Rockdell Villas will provide that foundation for dozens of residents. The 40-unit supportive housing development received a $626,965 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant awarded to FHLB Cincinnati member Huntington National Bank for the benefit of project sponsors Miami Valley Housing Opportunities and TCN Behavioral Health Services.

Rockdell Villas embraces a supportive housing model, combining affordable housing with integrated services that help residents build stable, healthy lives. It is the first project of its kind in Greene County.

The need is significant. According to TCN Behavioral Health Services, recent data identified 446 individuals as chronically homeless in Greene County, including 283 people residing in emergency shelters and 163 people living unsheltered.

"Rockdell Villas will get one-third of the Greene County population that is homeless off of the streets," said Lori Strobl, CEO of TCN Behavioral Health Services.

Beyond providing a safe place to live, the development connects residents with services designed to help them thrive. Residents have access to mental health counseling, substance use recovery treatment and education on budgeting, financial literacy and healthy eating. Programs built to help residents grow skills that support greater independence.

"Think about people garnering that stability. Going back to school, getting a job, being an active participant in community life," Leah Werner, the director of the Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee team at the Corporation for Supportive Housing said. "All of that has a deep and rich economic impact."

Through strong partnerships and the help of AHP funding, Rockdell Villas offers the stability, support and opportunity residents need to build brighter futures.
